Bus differences

We went to Alpine Slide for Dad's company party, which is always quite fun. There are two parts to the "Adventure Park": the east side and the west side. They are a mile apart and thus the park provides a shuttle bus betwixt the two. There were about 32 seats on the bus. As soon as all the seats had occupants, the driver stopped the flow of people in the bus: "We're full." Um, WHAT did he just say? He couldn't have said we were full. After a year and a half of bus riding in Honduras the only "full" bus is the one where people are hanging out the door (either the front one or the rear emergency exit). And in case you were wondering...I have been that person hanging out the front door.

They can cram at LEAST 150 people in one school bus. With that backdrop it seemed extremely ridiculous to me that the shuttle was "full" because all the seats were taken. Did no one see the spacious aisle running the whole length of the bus? Or ALL that wasted space up by the driver?

Sadly, whilst riding on a full bus in Honduras, either one of two things: 1) I didn't have my camera on me, or 2) I had my camera on me yet it was impossible to access because we were all so tightly squished that maneuvering to get something in my backpack was absurd. Thus, I have no photographical evidence of truly full buses. But you get an idea by the google image I found...

  1. HAHAHAHAHA! I'm glad you posted that picture--my imagination didn't quite take me far enough in imagining the possibilities of bus space. Wow, that's priceless.

  2. That reminds me of being on the subway during peak hours. Except for you can't hang out of those doors. :)
