Familiar vs. Unfamiliar

Let me do a little compare and contrast for you. There are very simple things that make me think of home either because they are the same or because they are different. (Let's not kid ourselves, it's mostly because they're different.) Example:


This is a typical light switch here in Viña. When I first saw it, I thought, "Even the LIGHT SWITCHES are different!" And then I was looking through my bag and remembered I had brought candy for my little host sisters. Ornella didn't want hers, so I ate it. And I cannot tell you the joy I felt at tasting it :) Oh, the sweet little pleasures in life...
